Ingredients

  • 32 each McCain Smiles
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 slices American or cheddar cheese slices, quartered
  • 16 hamburger dill pickle chips
  • 3/4 cup Thousand Island Dressing

How to make it

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Add the Smiles and bake, flipping once, until golden and crispy, about 12 to 16 minutes.
  2. While the Smiles cook, prepare the burgers. Form ground beef into 16 patties (about 1 1/2 ounces each) and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Preheat a large, heavy skillet, such as cast iron, over medium heat. Add half of the patties and cook 4 minutes, Flip, top each with cheese, and cook until the cheese is melted and internal temperature reaches 160°F, another 2 to 3 minutes.Transfer to a plate and tent with foil to keep warm. Carefully wipe skillet with a clean paper towel (use tongs) and repeat with remaining burgers.
  3. Place burgers on a Smile, top with a pickle and a dollop of thousand island dressing. Cover with a Smile on top and secure with a toothpick, if needed.

If Using the Air Fryer:

Preheat the air fryer to 300°F. Working in batches, place Smiles in the basket in a single layer and cook, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy, 7-9 minutes.

Note: Make your own Thousand Island dressing by combining ¼ cup mayonnaise with 1 tablespoon ketchup, ¼ teaspoon onion powder and ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt. Alternatively, dressing can be replaced with mustard and ketchup.
