Ingredients
- 32 each McCain Smiles
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 slices American or cheddar cheese slices, quartered
- 16 hamburger dill pickle chips
- 3/4 cup Thousand Island Dressing
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Add the Smiles and bake, flipping once, until golden and crispy, about 12 to 16 minutes.
- While the Smiles cook, prepare the burgers. Form ground beef into 16 patties (about 1 1/2 ounces each) and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Preheat a large, heavy skillet, such as cast iron, over medium heat. Add half of the patties and cook 4 minutes, Flip, top each with cheese, and cook until the cheese is melted and internal temperature reaches 160°F, another 2 to 3 minutes.Transfer to a plate and tent with foil to keep warm. Carefully wipe skillet with a clean paper towel (use tongs) and repeat with remaining burgers.
- Place burgers on a Smile, top with a pickle and a dollop of thousand island dressing. Cover with a Smile on top and secure with a toothpick, if needed.
If Using the Air Fryer:
Preheat the air fryer to 300°F. Working in batches, place Smiles in the basket in a single layer and cook, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy, 7-9 minutes.
Note: Make your own Thousand Island dressing by combining ¼ cup mayonnaise with 1 tablespoon ketchup, ¼ teaspoon onion powder and ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt. Alternatively, dressing can be replaced with mustard and ketchup.
