A Caesar salad, fries and martini or soda combo is a solo dining favorite – but we think it is the perfect way to “Fries & Yap” with your besties too. We’ve asked creator Shey Hutzler for her favorite way to channel the Girl Dinner vibe. Her Caesar salad twist marries bacon and McCain beer battered “croutons” on a bed of lettuce paired with McCain beer battered parmesan-truffle fries.

I’m a huge advocate for enjoying the little things in life - which is why you’ll never find me skipping the side of fries. This dinner feels like an ode to all the things I, along with most girls, love: a crisp salad, an even crispier side of fries, and a Coke. What more could a girl want?!

Ingredients

For the Dressing:

  • 1 garlic clove, smashed
  • 2 anchovy fillets (or 1–2 teaspoons anchovy paste)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 large egg yolk (or 1 tablespoon mayonnaise)
  • 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Croutons:

For the Salad:

  • 1 large head romaine lettuce, chopped (about 5 to 6 cups)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 slices cooked bacon

For the McCain Fries

For the Beverage:

  • Any soft drink; avoid branding

How to make it

  1. Make the Dressing:
Finely chop the garlic and anchovies together. Then use the side of the knife to smash into a paste. Transfer to a medium bowl and whisk in mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and egg yolk (or mayo). Slowly whisk in olive oil until the mixture is creamy. Stir in Parmesan, then season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  2. Make the Croutons:
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped McCain French fries and cook, stirring often, until cooked through, crispy and golden, about 8 to 10 minutes. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with Parmesan, if desired.
  3. Assemble the Salad:
In a large bowl, toss romaine with dressing and Parmesan. Top with French fry croutons & crumbled crispy bacon. Serve immediately.
  4. For the McCain Fry Side:
Preheat the air fryer to 360°F for 15 minutes. Add a single layer of fries to the air fryer basket and cook, stirring once, until crispy and golden, about 11-12 minutes. Repeat with remaining fries.
Alternatively, fries can be prepared in the oven. Spread fries out evenly onto a large baking sheet and bake at 425°F, stirring once, until golden, about 10-12 minutes.
  5. Toss fries with truffle oil, Parmesan cheese & parsley.
